We are developing accessible websites using best practices. Accessible sites offer features such as scalable type, visual contrast, keyboard navigation, and screen reader technology.

These features work best when they are designed in from the start. Retrofitting accessibility late in a build is almost always more expensive, and less effective, than allowing for it from the first wireframe.

An accessible site reaches more people, and the same choices that help users of assistive technology tend to produce a clearer, faster site for everyone. For many organisations it is also an obligation rather than a nice to have.
